the neo-nostalgics

Bio

In the Beginning

It all started in January 2003 when we decided to get down to business. By year’s end audiences would hear us play 12 original songs. We shared bills and organized shows. We put together an annual music festival called the WHAT Festival, operated a recording studio, and continued to write songs. We will always write songs.

Fast-forward four years, four WHAT Festivals, approx. 75 songs, and we need to take our music out on the road.

As of right now

A Justification

Nostalgic song styling

“A straight up version of life...Tainted with virtue and vice...” –Drift James, freelance entertainment writer, talking in a 2007 interview.

When we play music people listen. Not because we think we’re any better or worse than anyone; people listen because our message is carried out of the venue after the show. Our tunes seem to stick around for a while.

Our songs cover everything from grunts and grits, reggae, raga’s, to pop hits, we do Rock, Hip-hop, Bossa, Classical, hothouse, whore house, and all things/screams alternative or fantastical. We can sound like a computer, we can think like a hard drive. But when you least expect it we are real. It is then we’ve been told that we have staying power. This musical and theatrical flexibility allow us to construct The Neo-Nostalgics into a lasting concept.

As purveyors of all things music we are determined to provide lasting music and lasting good times. As far as our music is concerned, the reason for the release is none of our business, but the release, i.e.. The feeling some get when they listen to a song and all troubles fade to a distance and they truly enjoy the sounds coming into their ears, the trigger of this release is our job to pull. People come to our shows because they don’t know what they will see next, but they like it. They feed on it. And of course we’d like to keep it that way. The Neo-Nostalgics are very private about the conception of our art, however, once it’s out of the box, we love to share it, all the while committed to its integrity.

The Future

From study to studio to stage

“We don’t sellout...We sell lifestyle.” –The Neo-Nostalgics

Therefore we do whatever ever is within rhyme and reason to ensure safety and success for all of our fans, family, clients, co-workers, and every other world citizen. Honesty is this best policy no matter in what shoes one finds oneself in. As for the small biographical details of where we come from, where we’ve been, will all come in good time.
